Fellowship/Welcoming Committee
Volunteers needed to meet and welcome new neighbors in the community and inform them of our parish and activities. Volunteers need to be friendly and outgoing and not hesitant to meet new people. Time commitment varies.

Funeral Luncheon
The Church provides provides homemade or purchased food after funerals for family and friends. Volunteers also offer parish support for grieving families. Workers are needed to set-up, serve the meal and clean up. Time commitment varies, must be available to provide food or help on 2-3 days notice.

Ministry to the Homebound
There are various opportunities to become involved in visiting people in nursing homes or taking communion to individuals who are homebound. Time commitment of 3-4 hours per month is requested.

Bereavement Ministry
A ministry offering support to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. A bereavement team member will journey with the grieving person(s) through visits, phone calls, cards, etc. as needed.

Referrals to the ministry initiate from our pastor, parishioners requesting support for themselves, or another. Time commitment varies.

St. Vincent dePaul Society
The Vincent de Paul Society provides corporal and spiritual works of mercy to those in need. Acts include providing food, assistance with utility bills, prescription drugs, rent and other needs. Vincent de Paul members meet the 1st Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. A time commitment of 2-3 hours per month is requested.

Men’s Club
The Men’s Club handles minor repair jobs and maintenance around the parish such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, etc. Club meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. Attendance at meetings is not necessary. Simply offer your services when needed. Time commitment varies depending on project.

St. Ann Sodality
St. Ann members provide support to various ministries. They visit the nursing homes, the Pregnancy Care Center, quilt, serve as greeters at church and host coffee and doughnuts after Mass. The Club meets the 3rd Wednesday of the Month at 12:45. Time commitment varies with project.

Parish Quilters
Learn the art of quilting by joining the ladies of the parish every Monday and Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Quilts made will be donated to the Fall Quilt Bingo and Craft Fair.

PTO is a service organization dedicated to supporting the school and teachers through special events and fundraisers. Projects include Fish Frys, Santa’s Workshop, dinner auction and enrichment programs. Volunteers are needed to help with all PTO sponsored activities. PTO meets at 7:30 p.m. on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. A time commitment of 2-3 hours per month is requested.

Soup Bus
Blessed Sacrament operates the Soup Bus every third Tuesday in East St. Louis. Volunteers needed to provide hot dogs, chips, cookies or cash donations. Bus drivers and food servers are also needed. Time commitment of 2-3 hours every third months is requested.

The Giving Tree
Volunteers needed to make gift bags for needy children and families in our community during the holidays. Assistance is also needed in organizing and delivering gifts to families. This is a wonderful family project and helps teach the true meaning of Christmas. Time commitment of 4-6 hours needed for 1 month.

Fish Fry
The PTO sponsors fish frysduring lent. Approximately 60 volunteers are needed per fish fry for various assignments such as set-up, food prep, cooks and servers, desserts and clean up. A time commitment of 3-4 hours per fish fry is requested.

Youth Ministry
Blessed Sacrament’s Youth Ministry program focuses on pre- and post-Sacramental development for youth receiving Baptism, Reconciliation, Communion and Confirmation.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Adults help children in grades K-5 break open the Word of God through scripture readings and discussion. Kind, generous volunteers over 18 are needed to lead the group during the 11:00 am mass at Blessed Sacrament. We are also in need of 6th-12th graders to assist.
